In compliance with the European Standard EN 545:2010, Ductile Iron Fittings shall be cast in sand. The above-mentioned Standards define the dimensional criteria. The nominal thickness refers to the body’s main component. Depending on the form of the casting, the individual thickness at any given stage can be increased to satisfy localized elevated stresses (e.g. at an internal radius of bends, at the branch-body junction of tees, etc.)

The fittings shall be secured internally and externally, depending on the corrosive properties of the soils, with: the fittings mounted in non-corrosive soils shall be protected internally and externally with a fusion-bonded epoxy coating with a minimum dry film thickness of 250 microns in compliance with the European Standard EN 14901:2006 and with a thickness of 300 microns for corrosive soils.
